Ushers: As part of the front of house team, ushers are essential in creating a positive experience for guests. In many cases, they offer the first impression guests have of the Festival.

Objectives: by the end of the Festival, interns should be able to

  • Acquire skills to manage flow of guests to and from the performance space and work with Greenroom and Stage Manager to cue start times

  • Communicate etiquette regarding entries and exits during performances

  • Engage with guests regarding the program

Duties: during the course of the Festival, interns will

  • Assist guests with directions to the performance space, restrooms, and reception area

  • Manage the entry and exit of guests during performance

  • Inform guests of etiquette/norms regarding performance and space (i.e. food and drink, cell phones, etc)

  • Familiarize themselves with the program for each performance

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  the ideal intern candidate possesses

  • Knowledge of audience etiquette during musical performances

  • Knowledge of classical and/or jazz music preferred

  • Strong oral communication skills

  • Ability to interact professionally with guests

  • Ability to communicate and work with team members
