The Chelsea Music Festival returns to lower Manhattan in its fourth annual summer season with the theme—

Britain and Italy

The Chelsea Music Festival returned to New York City this June for its fourth consecutive season with a program centered on a British-Italian theme and paying tribute to three composer anniversaries: Benjamin Britten (100th), Arcangelo Corelli (300th) and Carlo Gesualdo (400th). CMF invited audiences to experience site-specific programming that fuses music, art and cuisine. Performances showcased existing and newly commissioned works in the classical, jazz, folk, art song and early music genres. Festival artists hailed from around the globe, including Britain, Italy, Germany and India. A palette of evening concerts, curated post-concert receptions, interactive family events, free outdoor performances, collaborative visual art exhibits, lectures, Festival Talks and late night shows filled nine days with over twenty Festival events in more than ten locations.

Hailed by The Chicago Tribune as “the most promising discovery that [Wynton] Marsalis has made since Eric Reed,” renowned jazz pianist and composer Aaron Diehl will lead his Trio and Festival musicians in the celebratory Festival Finale.
