From June 14th-18th of 2011, the Chelsea Music Festival returns to lower Manhattan to celebrate the second annual summer season with the theme—

Franz Liszt

CMF 2011 was a captivating amalgamation of established and emerging artists whose work seamlessly integrated into the landscape of the festival’s focus: Franz Liszt. Liszt’s legacy was made audible, edible, and visible when highlighted at multiple evening receptions, carefully designed by master chefs throughout the festival’s run. The festival invited artists and audiences of all ages for an in-depth exploration of multiple events, including Classical, Jazz, Organ, Choral, Vocal, Family and Outreach, Late Night Festival Talks, and a Bach@Noon series with 2011 Artist-in-Residence Alban Gerhardt performing the Bach cello suites in impromptu locations throughout the Chelsea neighborhood.

Chelsea Music Festival history was made when special guest, Grammy Award-winning Jazz bassist, John Patitucci, inaugurated the jazz program with the world premiere performance of “Voyager” during the festival finale. The final performance of the night included the John Patitucci Trio, featuring Helen Sung and Marcus Gilmore, with special guest Rogerio Boccato.
