7:30pm - FESTIVAL OPENING NIGHT GALA "Bridges to Britten"

CMF 2013's Opening Night celebrates Benjamin Britten's centenary and his rich imprint that still influences music and artists to this day. Britten's Cello Sonata and Introduction and Burlesque for two pianos, Frank Bridge's Three Idylls for string quartet, CMF 2013 Composer-in-Residence Eric Nathan's Oboe Quartet New York Premiere, and William Walton's exuberant Piano Quartet are program highlights.

Hosted by the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department at the School of Visual Arts, Opening Night audience members will be welcomed onto SVA's 15th floor gallery and enjoy breathtaking views from the terrace overlooking Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River before and after the concert.

This all-evening affair begins with an art exhibition that showcases a special collection grand piano by Steinway & Sons visual artist Alexander Lynx, who will be on-site.  After the concert, there will be a gala reception by CMF Culinary Artist-in-Residence Sonar Saikia where audience members can mingle with Festival artists throughout the Gallery.

NOTE: Tickets for Opening Night 2013 available for purchase online only. No tickets will be sold at the door.
